Security Guards from private security companies took to Herman Mashaba's office demanding to be insourced by the city of johannesburg
BOOBS, bras and panties were on show yesterday when gatvol security guards protested outside Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba’s office.
Fifteen workers stripped and chanted struggle songs outside the Metro Centre, saying they were forgotten when guards were insourced by the municipality.

Frustrated guard Yonwabo Cebisa said last year the mayor announced he’d be insourcing 4 000 security guards, but she had heard only 1 500 were permanently employed.

“This is the fourth time we’ve come here. We decided to protest half-naked to make a statement so Mashaba can take us seriously and keep his promise,” she said.
Protesting men stood about 50 metres away from their colleagues as they showed their bums.
Guard Kaizer Mashaba said they had been sent from pillar to post. “We want Mashaba to come and address the matter.”
Luyanda Lunika, a manager in the municipality, said insourcing had not been completed.
“We’re doing it in phases. During the first phase, we discovered some people had benefitted unduly.
“People who meet the criteria will still be insourced when the second phase of the project starts in the new financial year.”
He said there would be very strict screening to prevent these problems happening again.
